Independent Living Skills Training (ILS)
Independent Living Skills Training (ILS) is a service for those who have a physical disability, brain injury, or have a chronic physical or mental health condition.
The goal of ILS Services is to help develop, maintain, and improve independence in the home and community. HealthStar’s culturally sensitive team offers personalized training areas such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the reduction/elimination of challenging behaviors. We encourage our clients and their families to become active participants in their health care. We believe strong families builds strong communities.
ILS Services are covered under the Brain Injury (BI) Waiver, Community Alternative Care (CAC) Waiver, and Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) Waiver.
Homemaker program is available to all persons covered under the Medical Assistance Waiver Programs or as private pay. A Homemaker may be utilized in providing routine household chores such as:
- Light housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, etc.)
- Meal preparation and planning
- Transportation arrangements
- Social support
Homemakers may also be responsible for more significant housekeeping and personal cares (ADLs) based on the authorization from a Medical Assistance Waiver Case worker.
We understand that as a caregiver, caring for a loved one can be stressful. HealthStar Home Health’s respite care program provides planned short-term and time-limited breaks for caregivers. Respite care offers you time to take care of yourself: visit a friend for lunch, run errands, or go to an appointment. Our health care professionals will provide light housecleaning, care, and companionship while you’re away. HealthStar Home Health’s respite service helps support and maintain a healthy relationship and provides a positive experience for the person receiving care.
