Maintenance Therapy

Maintenance Thearpy

Fostering independence.

HealthStar Home Health’s maintenance therapy program allows seniors to age in place and minimize their rate of decline. Maintenance therapy seeks to help patients maintain their current level of function as well as to remain independent as long as possible.

Aging in Place.

Striving to foster independence and prevent decline, Maintenance therapy helps patients age in place through Occupational Therapy, which emphasizes instructions on ADLs, and Physical Therapy, which emphasizes ambulation and mobility.

An initial course of maintenance therapy typically includes six to nine months of treatments spread out over a 60-day period.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (PT) helps with recovery after injury or surgery. The goal of physical therapy is to help restore movement, increase flexibility and strength, and/or restore coordination and balance. Physical Therapy works to make daily tasks and activities easier, such as going up and down the stairs or walking.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a form of rehabilitation therapy. This type of treatment helps those with an injury, illness or disability perform important day-to-day tasks, such as getting dressed, eating or taking part in work/school activities. Occupational Therapists work with individuals of all ages.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy (ST) helps address language and speech disorders in individuals of all ages. Therapists provide treatment, support and care for those who may have difficulty communicating, or those who have difficulty eating or swallowing. Speech therapy can also help individuals recovering from a stroke or brain injury.
